Kamishibai means “Paper Theater” and is a very popular form of storytelling in Japan for centuries. The kamishibai fascinates the audience. Its characteristics and the way it is presented help to achieve a magical effect and concentration around the story.

The Kamishibai is read by placing the sheets in order on a small support/slot in the theater, facing the audience, and sliding the sheets one after the other, while the text is read. The sheets have a full-color drawing on one side and text on the other.

The performer stands near the theater, facing the audience, and presents the story using his or her own voice. The fundamental role of the interpreter is to know and connect with the world of the story and transmit it to the audience, tuning into it and sharing the feelings and emotions that the author has given to the story. The narrators can be adults or, depending on the case, the children themselves and they can collaborate in pairs so that, while one reads, the other can go through the pictures. The movement of the sheets continually balances attention and emotions between the anticipation of what is to come and the stability of what is present, favoring the concentration of the story.

Children attend a show in a group in which everyone together can scream in fear or laugh out loud. This predisposes them to share the same feelings, experiencing the feeling of group and joint enjoyment.

The Kamishibai Sieteleguas Ediciones / Miniland , presents the texts in ten different languages, thus allowing their use in foreign language classes. The themes are usually based on oral tradition stories from other peoples and cultures, having been collected from said cultures by the authors. who have collaborated adapting them to the Kamishibai structure.

The stories in the stories are based on values such as: Cooperation - Love - Adventure - Helping others - Personal responsibility - Caring for animals - Perseverance - Compassion - Self-acceptance - Unexpected consequences - Generosity - Imagination
